New York City and the Mets!

This past weekend Corey, Cooper and I headed to New York City for a three day weekend. We drove up Friday morning and did not hit any traffic (I know it's hard to believe!) and arrived at our hotel around noon. Cooper did great with the ride, but then again I was in the backseat the entire time entertaining him. We stayed for free, nada, zip at the Crown Plaza in Times Square - see there are perks to Corey traveling to London. We had a corner room on the 24th floor courtesy of the hotel manager that fell in love with Cooper. One side of our room over looked Times Square and the other side looked out onto the Hudson River. It was awesome!

After settling in the room and grabbing a hot dog from the street vendor we headed to Battery Park to catch the Statue Cruise ferry. We took the ferry to Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty and to Ellis Island. Very cool experience. We definitely want to go back when we have more time and the names of our ancestors to research.

Friday night we ate at Becco. Corey and I both ordered the special for the night which was roma tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, caesar salad, and table side service for three of their favorite pastas (garlic and pesto penne, lobster and shrimp pasta and spinach ravioli). YUMMY!!! The food and service were excellent and the prices were very reasonable! If you are ever in NYC and want great Italian we would definitely recommend this place!

Saturday was the highlight of the weekend for Corey! We had tickets to the 2nd to last Mets game at Shea Stadium. Corey wanted to make sure Cooper got to experience a Mets game at Shea - even if he is only 3 months old! We will have pictures to show him when he gets older of his first and last Mets game at Shea! Cooper slept the entire game! He's such a good baby! He was also the star of the game - we had our picture taken by like 10 people because they thought he was so cute in his Mets gear. Santana pitched an awesome game and the Mets won!! Yippee!

Next year we will have to take him to Citi Field (just doesn't have the same ring or emotion as Shea).

Saturday night we grabbed some good ole' NY pizza for dinner and took Cooper to the hotel pool!

On Sunday we got up early and visited the M&M's, Hershey's and Toys-R-Us stores before heading home.

It was an awesome weekend!!! Can't wait to go back!

Day full of Doctor's Appts

Yesterday was a day full of doctor's appointments for Cooper and me!

We have decided to take an alternative approach to the CDC's recommended vaccination schedule. We are using an alternative schedule by Dr. Sears; which spreads the shots out over time. Instead of getting 4 and 5 shots at a time at his 2nd, 4th and 6th month appointments with this schedule he only gets a max of two shots at his 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th, 6th, and 7th month appointments. Which means we are seeing the doctor more but oh well! So, in the morning Cooper got his Haemophilus influenzae type b (HIB) and Pneumococcal shots. The nurse prepped me by telling me the Pneumococcal vaccination really hurts and all babies cry - WELL MINE DIDN'T. He actually laughed!!! What a brave little man! So, four shots down and not one tear!

I did not fair as well...in the afternoon I had a dentist appointment. I have a back molar that is KILLING me! So the dentist took a quick look and gave me the prognosis that I had been expecting - root canal and crown are needed! Wonderful! The first appointment available was October 3rd so I am on antibiotics and vicodin until then. Fun!

Cooper's 11 Weeks Old

Cooper's 11 weeks old! He weighs 15 lbs 8 oz and can hold his head up! He looks like a little turtle stretching his neck when he is on his tummy (I will try to get a picture of this to post).

He is fighting a cold and a nasty diaper rash right now. Hopefully he will be feeling better soon!

UVA vs. Richmond - September 6th

Here are pictures from Cooper's very first football game - UVA vs. Richmond! He did great! He slept through most of the game which puzzles me even more as to why he can't sleep at day care.

Cooper's 2 Month Checkup

Yesterday Cooper had his 2 month wellness check up with the pediatrician. He weighed 14 lbs 11 oz, was 24 inches long and his head circumference was 16 1/2 inches. The doctor said he was a very healthy and happy boy! He also got his DTAP and Rotavirus vaccines. He was a tough guy! He only whimpered once, I stroked his cheek, told him he was Mommy's boy and then he smiled. That was it! No screaming or crying from Cooper or me. =) He definitely takes his shots like his Mommy and not his Daddy.

On a side note, daycare is still kicking his butt! He sleeps from the time he comes home at night until the next morning. Corey and I have to wake him up to feed him, give him a bath and change his diaper. Hopefully he starts getting used to the place and is able to take naps. We would like to have our smiley active boy back.

Cooper's 1st day at daycare!

Yesterday was Cooper's first day at daycare and my first day back to work. Corey and I dropped Cooper off at daycare around 7:45 in the morning. It was really hard leaving him behind! This was the first time in 10 weeks that I had been away from him longer than an hour - yep an hour!

I struggled through the day and called the daycare numerous times to check on him. I finally caved in and picked him up at 2:00. Which was fairly decent for our first day apart!

The daycare staff said he did great and never cried (I wonder if they tell all the mother's that)! He only took three quick naps during the day. I guess the new sights, smells and sounds kept him simulated and awake. In the car we did not get even a half of a mile from the daycare before he was snoozing! He slept for the majority of the evening. Daycare wears him out!

So, there is another milestone for Cooper and for me! However, if it was up to me and we didn't have a mortgage payment I would opt to stay home. This working stuff is for the birds!

Oh, I almost forgot....
The best part of my day was walking into daycare to pick him up and when he saw me he got the biggest smile on his face and squealed! I turned into mush! He definitely has his mommy wrapped around his little finger!
