Mexico Trip Report

We had a wonderful vacation in Mexico! Cooper absolutely loved Mexico! He was a happy bee the entire trip! Which is very fitting since 11 months ago when we were in Mexico was the first time he started kicking in my belly.

We did a lot of nothing for 9 days...We ate, drank, swam, laid out, read books, played with Cooper, and napped....It was a rough 9 days....JUST KIDDING!

Milestones to Report -
1) He slept through the entire flight going and coming - definitely gets that from me!
2) Got his first stamp in his passport! Many more to come...
3) Cooper got to have his toes in the sand and feet in the ocean.
4) He loved the pool and splashing Corey. Now when I give him a bath he thinks it hilarious to splash me.
5) Cooper could roll over before we left for Mexico he just chose to only do it when you were not looking or walked out of a room. Well in Mexico he became a wiggle worm - he does not sit still and rolls over constantly.
6) He can now sit up with a little help from Mommy or Daddy.
7) He loved strawberry ice cream, whipped cream, syrup, and mashed potatoes - all courtesy of Daddy!

It was a fantastic trip and we can not wait to go back....

Here are some of my favorite pictures (out of the 300 that I took) from the trip -

Special thanks to Grammy and Uncle Aaron for taking care of the house and feeding the kitties!

Weekend/Holiday WrapUp

The four day holiday weekend was jam packed to say the least and a little eventful. I will quickly summarize - Thanksgiving, Black Friday, ER, Packing, Dad/Gramp's Birthday & Maddie.

1) Thanksgiving - We celebrated our 1st Thanksgiving in our house! Jackie & Bob spent the day with us. Jackie & I cooked off and on - a very relaxed pace. Bob and Corey watched football and napped through out the day. Cooper was still not feeling well and slept most of the day - he was maybe up for four hours total.
Dinner was excellent - ham, turkey breast, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnips, broccoli casserole, asparagus, stuffing and rolls. Lots of starches - just how we like it.
We ended the night with a game of spades - boys versus girls. We did not go to bed until 11:30 or 12:00...way too late since Jackie & I were getting up at 3:00 AM for Black Friday.

2) Black Friday - Jackie & I were out the door by 3:45 and in Kohls parking lot by 3:58. We hit Kohls, Target, Starbucks, ToysRus, and Walmart by 8:30. We were home unloading the car by 9:00 AM. We got great deals and I am 85% done with my Christmas shopping!

3) ER - On Thursday night we noticed that Cooper had pink eye in both eyes and was still not feeling well. He had had a fever off and on since the previous Saturday. I called the pediatrician Friday morning at 9:00 AM to get a sick appointment. Unfortunately, they were not open due to the Holiday and recommended that we take him to the ER to get some tests run. They did not like the fact that he had been having a fever off and on for such a long period of time. So we headed to the ER - waited about 2.5 hours in the waiting room before being seen. Saw the doctor - confirmed the pink eye in both eyes, did not like his wheezing so prescribed a steroid to clear up the inflammation in his lungs, and thought he was starting to get ear infections in both ears which would explain the off and on fevers so he gave us an antibiotic. After two doses of medicine Cooper is back to his old self - He is laughing and chattering constantly!

4) Packing - We head to Cancun on Monday! Yeah! Making sure I have everything for Cooper has been a little nerve racking - it's amazing how someone so little needs so many things!

5) Dad/Gramp's Birthday - Yesterday was Dad/Gramp's 54th Birthday! Happy Birthday! We love you very much! We hope you had a great day! Sorry we could not be there to celebrate with you!
6) Maddie - Yesterday Bob & Jackie brought Maddie to our house for a visit and to watch the UVA/VT game. Cooper thinks Maddie is hilarious! He is as much fascinated by her and she is by him. They were too cute together!

Cooper is 5 Months Old!

Cooper went to the pediatrician yesterday for his 5 month wellness check up and to get his Pneumococcal (PC) and Haemophilus Influenzae B (HIB) vaccinations. Due to a national shortage of HIB vaccinations he was unable to get it. However he did get his PC vaccination and cried for the first time. He weighed 18 lbs 7 oz. Yes he is a big boy! The doctor said he was a very healthy, happy and alert little boy. Yeah!

Maw Maw sent Cooper his Christmas present - a bouncer - a little early. He is just starting to get the hang of it but he loves it! Here are some pictures of him in it...

We're Alive!!!

Quick update on the past two weeks:
Week #1 - Cooper, Corey and I caught a nasty bug right after Halloween. Cooper came down with an ear infection, bronchitis and a viral infection. He was a pathetic little thing - made my heart break!

Week #2 - Busy catching up at work! Corey headed to London for a quick trip (Thursday - Sunday). Allie came to visit this weekend - we had a great time relaxing, watching movies and just catching up!

Home Improvements to report:
1) Our deck is finished! If I ever get home before it is dark I will take some pictures to post.
2) New light fixture over the kitchen table - Corey installed all by himself! My husband can be handy at times! Haha!

Weekend at Maw Maw's

This past weekend we headed to West Virginia for a visit with Maw Maw, Nana and Gramps.

Cooper watching football with Nana

Saturday night Corey and I headed out on the town for our first date/night out since Cooper was born. Nana and Gramps baby sat for us - MawMaw went to bingo. Thanks Nana & Gramps!!!!

We have wanted to see the Hullabahoos in concert for some time now (8 years to be exact) and it just happened that they were having their fall concert Saturday night - our date night. So we headed to C'ville which is fitting since that's were we became husband and wife. We had dinner at Bonefish (we haven't eaten there since before I was prego - which we can't remember why since it is our favorite) and McLeod Hall to see Hullabahoos. If you want a sample of their music

It was an awesome night! We love Cooper and wouldn't change our lives, but it was definitely nice to be husband and wife for a night instead of Mommy and Daddy.

While we were on our date night Aunt Debbie and Uncle Gary stopped by for a visit with Cooper, Nana and Gramps.

On Sunday, Aunt Jackie and Uncle Greg visited with Cooper.

It was a great weekend with family! We are hoping to get back to West Virginia the weekend of November 8th.
